The week before Hurricane Hanna was great. The kingfish were running close, 100 yards past end of bob hall pier. This week it’s pretty rough and the blue water isn’t pushed in close like last week. I reside across the street from bob hall. Beach access is closed to vehicles, but the parking lot is open in several areas. Wheels to the beach and pdf are a must.

TexasJim, you may want to get in on this upcoming trip on Tuesday. The conditions are practically looking like a lake. If you want a easy going day offshore, this would be it (based off of the weather forcasts). If you do come, I look forward to meeting you. If not, I totally understand. :)

The Matagorda beach line is only accessible via 4wd. If you don't have that, then you don't want to try it. Most people don't have a 4wd vehicle so that is why Matagorda wouldn't be a good place to host this outing. it's too bad that the beach line there is only 4wd because there is some good fishing out there.

Understandable. The pack varies a lot. I once drove a 2wd 3/4 ton truck 6 miles down but it was white knuckle a couple of times on getting bogged. I’ve got a superb 4x4 for sand now partly for that reason. It’s a shame, LOTs of triple tail out there.

Fingers crossed that it opens up way before the 22nd; ready to go out past the breakers and to the rigs.

Man I hope it does open. I just saw where SPI extended their current order through mid-September to help keep the Labor Day crowds in check. Unfortunately this opens the doors for Nueces County to do the same.

Found this yesterday and put my order in. Not to bad on the price. Should have it tomorrow as I was notified this morning that it has shipped. So if anyone is in search of a Marine VHF radio this is the one that Yakety Yak was recommending.

Man I am getting pumped up for this. :D

Thanks for posting this info. Amazon has their shipping for these radios to be delivered for next week. The site you have provided seems to be able to get it to their customers much quicker.

I’m in. Going to be up there Saturday evening. Is the state park beach open to camping? Looks like it is online but it is walk up reservations only. I just need a place to park and sleep until the beach opens.

State park beach camping is closed but the national park appears to be open now. If you have a 4x4 or are properly equipped and drive carefully it should be possible to camp the first few miles of beach. That’s my plan, Fish the surf late tomorrow, then camp on the beach overnight and be up really early to drive over to the launch point. If you see a lifted red Xterra with a little white trailer, that is me. Also, I’m equipped for vehicle recovery if someone gets stuck.
