Re: hammerhead taxes my huge kingfish!
One of the craziest days I have ever had on the water! I never saw him sneaking around my boat. I have seen some big kings back when I offshore fished out of a power boat but this guy takes the cake!

That's crazy! A trip you won't forget for sure. Thanks for posting.

That hammer was huge! Way to stay calm and focused! Where'd you launch from?

Wow that’s insane! Looks like good weather - What day were you on the water?
Re: hammerhead taxes my huge kingfish!
That was Saturday. Sunday was super sloppy. We launched on PINS.

Daniel, Mike, and I were on the water about three to four years ago when Daniel caught a 62" king on my Hobie TI. After seeing a king in the 60s, I'm sure your king was in the 60's range. The state record is 58.5" with a weight of 79 lbs. I bet that you might have broken the state record if that H-head hadn't eaten your fish and you could of brought it to Roy's for a weigh-in. Excellent catch and great video footage!!

Thanks for your imput man. I have never seen one like that! He was so old his teeth were dull! lol

Congrats with this amazing encounter with hammerhead shark Killerbee! This looks like very hungry 8 footer. They always look smaller when under water. I look forward to see some 2+ foot hammerhead dorsal fins sticking out of water never been lucky. Some fishermen reported them showing up here at there at time but never videotaped.

That hammer seems to live in that location. I've encountered her several times, and Tod seems to have a knack for attracting her. She got so riled up one day chasing his fish that her dorsal hit his kayak and almost knocked him out. She's cool with me but really likes Tod (and his fish) for some reason. Nice fishing!
