Holly beach , LA
Saw some near shore oil rigs (on Google)off Holly Beach in Louisiana, has anyone ever been BTB at those rigs? Look like they are within the paddle range.
Deeply appreciate for any feedback or info.

Real shallow. Unless you get lucky not usually much at those short rigs besides specks, reds, and mangrove.
Can catch just as many of the same fish paddling a lot less in the marsh or surf fishing.

Thank for the feedback.
Understand that it’s shallow but does the water clear out at the rig?

If we have a north wind for 2-3 days in a row yes.Fishtolive wrote:Thank for the feedback.

My daughter and I kayaked out there in two perception kayaks, a 10' and 12'. The rigs to the west are close but shallow and I'm not sure if the road is public or not. The rig further south in that direction looks close but that dang rig is big so it looks closer than it is. It took my daughter and I nearly 3 hours to paddle out to it. I believe it was 40+ ft deep, memory is a little foggy there. I was going to fish for snapper, but Alexis kept me busy chasing her around the rig as sharks pulled her all over the place. It was also her first BTB fishing trip so I didn't want to ruin her. It gets pretty clear that far out and I have a video of a manta ray swimming between our yaks.
