Maybe the date was the reason for a slow day, at least for reds. Three of us fished, but the other two left before me, so I don't know exactly what they caught. I do know everyone caught both reds and sharks.
My total was five sharks between 4.5 and 5.5 ft. I had a sixth shark bit off (hook) right at the kayak. I also managed 2 bull reds, but missed/lost several others. We were all having trouble hooking or staying hooked to the reds. Most of their bites were very tentative, like gafftop bites. They just weren't aggressively feeding.
In my case, the sharks saved the day.
