BTB This weekend?

Post by GregO722 »

Wind and waves looks good, but…what about the traffic, roads, beaches…? Is it even possible? Anyone going? I was thinking somewhere between Mayan Princess and Bob Hall.

Good luck! The waters to dirty all the way out to the 8 mile rig so it could be a while before it clears up

Saw a post on another site that the only access is at Bob Hall. Also heard it is 4wd south of BH. Water is very muddy.

Saw new post. Some are fishing at packery jetty today. Said water was gorgeous but I don't know if they are referring to bay or gulf.

Water looks good. Oz drove down PINS all the way to Mansfield and the beach is packed and clean. Don't go North of Mayan Princess, but the other spots should be decent. Bait might be a real challenge, but the water does look nice.

I went to BHP rigs Saturday. Conditions were great, but visibility was only five feet. No kings but I kept 15 solid smacks, caught a big stingray and lost a cobia well into the fight ...ran into the rig, of course. No current was detected and there was lots of smack surface action.

Went to pins rig sat morning with a buddy got 4 kings and lost a really nice cobia after gaffing it. That was my first experience with a big cobia in a kayak and it is a lot different than just the 10-15lbers. Smacks were everywhere also.

The big ones are full-on combat beside the kayak, and they can hurt you pretty bad if you're not careful. That's why the seasoned vets get nervous when they bring one close.
