Big sharks

Post by stoli »

So my buddy and I are fishing high island today ended up catching 7 sharks ... 4.5ft to 6.5 black tips and I broke my personal record with a 7ft+ bullshark so not a bad day at all. But that's not the story of the day .... I have heard of people catching bull reds and having sharks attack them but having a 6.5 ft black tip on ur line about 15 yds from ur kayak and seeing a pool of blood appear I thought maybe I have hooked him deep in the gills nope I reel him up to see his guts hanging out of his body with a bite mark at least 14 inches across and about half way up his body. That had a to be a pretty damn big shark !!! I wish I had a go pro but my cell phone was in my dry box and I didn't want this bloody shark any longer next to my kayak so I cut him loose. Crazy awesome day with some screaming reels!!!!

I can think of three suspects: Tiger, Hammerhead, and Bull. All three are very aggressive and come close enough to reach by kayak. Sounds like a day to remember.

Great story, had me smiling at the end, and congrats on your new pb shark!
I have yet to catch sharks from my yak, but it's on my list.

Great report to HI. Have not heard a good report out of there in a while. This Friday the scouts pulled a 7'3" shark out of HI just short of McFaddin.

I used my hobie paddle to get a reference on the bull shark and was every bit of the paddle ... I measured my paddle and it's about 7ft 6in so he was a easy 7.5ft
