Air Compressor Recommendation

Post by Karyuu »

What kind of air compressor is everyone carrying?

Would like to be able to lower my tire pressure on the beach to gain some more traction and then inflate them back up.

I think I have this one in the truck. About all I can say about it is that It will air up a tire.

Kobalt 12-Volt Car Air Inflator, around 50.00

I use the slime as well. It has worked well for the last 4 years. The only issues are the plug spring can get compressed and not contact the power. I just open the plug and stretch it out. The other issue is you may need to let it cool between tires on hot days. Don't run it with the engine on or it will run too hot. I don't know why that is but you can tell the difference.

first compressor I bought was a Smittybilt. Looked like the real thing, and it was cheap. Turns out it was really expensive cause it only worked a couple times before it burned out.

Then bought a VIAIR 300P. No regrets. Great compressor.

Make sure you get a compressor big enough to inflate your size tires from 10 to 35 psi in a few minutes. Sucks standing there in the sun listening to the compressor running.
