I don't understand the categories as they're laid out....

14. Awards – Awards will be given based on the total weight scored. 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, the Extreme division, trash can, and biggest king and cobia will be awarded. All weight will go towards the overall champion for both events. Only anglers who pay for the Extreme division will be eligible for that prize, and all weight will be eligible for the summer slam series ring.

15. Scoring – The following is a list of eligible species and divisions for the tournaments. ▪ King Mackerel ▪ Cobia ▪ Jack Crevalle ▪ Bonita ▪ Spanish Mackerel ▪ Dolphin For total weight, anglers may weigh-in a total of 6 fish: 2- King Mackerel, 2- Cobia, 2- game species (i.e. Spanish or mahi.) Trash can: Jack Crevalle and Bonita, Max of 4 fish may be weighed for the "Trash Can Slam".

What is 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for? Are these awards intended for largest combined king mackerels? Or are these three placings for combined weight of king, cobia spanish? And then there is also a prize for biggest single King and biggest single Cobia? No prize for biggest single spanish mack, right?

Not used to this format, just want to understand what I'm signing up for.

thanks,

mtf

How do prizes work for this tournament? I didn't see any prize info on the website. I'd expect them to be pretty good for $100.

We will be making the Go/No-Go weather call next Wednesday on this thread and in the BWKC Facebook group. 3.5' or less and 15mph or less is what we are looking for. I have a feeling things will slick out after this TS exits the gulf. On-site signup closes next Friday before the event at midnight if we are still a Go. If we have a No-Go situation, the fallback date is the following weekend.

Thanks and we can't wait to see everyone down here!

All,

BWKC will be pushed back one week to July 8th due to inclement weather. Angler's safety is our prime concern.

For anglers who registered online.

Your registry will be rolled over to July 8th.

If you cannot attend July 8th, your registry will be rolled to the 2nd event on August 26th.

If you have already registered for both events and cannot make one of the 2 events, you will be reimbursed the cost of 1 event minus the shirt cost. You will receive the shirt with that.

what if we cannot attend either event? I work 2 weeks on and 1 week off and will not be off the weekend of those dates.

I think folks can still sign up Friday, but must use cash. Don't take my word so please check it out.
Oh to be younger. But I have experienced some really exciting days offshore.

PS, there is no such a thing of a nibble offshore.

When you get to the PINS beach line, the miles are marked in increments of five. For every five miles you go, there will be a sign along the dunes informing you that you have gone five miles, ten miles, fifteen miles, etc.. My recommendation is that when you get to the five mile marker, set your odometer for one mile past and there ya have it. If you are fishing the BWKC, good luck and cya at the event. :)

So I’ve been wondering, is there going to be a 2018 blue water classic? Can someone chime in with possible dates if there is going to be so that I can start making arrangements to attend?

From what I’ve heard, it’s been cancelled.
