Vibe Sea Ghost 130 2017

Post by Longliner »

I just ordered one from the Amazonian store because I found out this company uses all of our feedback and incorporates it into the design of there kayaks. They actually listen to there customers advice. All of this with an excellent price.
The improvements That were made to the 2017 130 model were all from customer feedback. They may have been just little improvements but they were all addressed.
Awesome!

I think they are imported kayaks from china.

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/ ... 00871.html

33 in width will be very stable which I find is not as useful offshore, I feel like you just learn to balance better on slimmer kayaks.

When you are parallel to the swells, the wider/flatter bottom cause the kayak to tilt and has caused me to flip before. A slim kayak just kinda slides down the swells without tilting towards the direction of the swells.

This is my experience comparing a JK cuda and a perception/tarpon 14, 31in vs 28 in width. Now I am in a Hobie Revo 13 which is back to ~28in width.

This same issue also becomes a issue when launching and beaching the kayak, where it is easier to get pass the breaker with slimmer kayaks and easier to surf a slim kayak back without have to fight the kayak too much or turtleing the kayak.

Also the wider kayak is a bitch to paddle, especially in heavy currents.

Check out these Australian/New Zealand/South Africans that fish purely offshore and you see them using 24in wide kayaks.

https://www.youtube.com/user/rokkitkit Ive been watching this guy. Those yaks look perfectly designed for offshore, very large, water tight hatch on the bow to holds rods and fish. They punch straight through some gnarly surf. I would love to take one of those babies for a spin.

Longliner, congrats on the new toy. The one that Karyuu linked to is a Gen-1 version before the mods. Back then the mold was an off the shelf, but the current versions are owned by Vibe and have the name molded into the hull. Personally I paddle a different "foreign" brand but know guys who paddle Vibes an a couple who sell them. Enjoy the ride!

I got a text from Amazon saying the kayak was no longer available. The answer I got was the vendor had a technical issue. They had one color, orange camo and the price was $850 shipped. They didn't specify what year it was so I text the vendor and the next day they cancelled the order.
I bought a wilderness systems ride 135 off eBay, it was a demo floor model 2015 with the high seat payed $850 shipped. I had one heck of a time getting my $$ back.

This one should cut through the water a little better and make it easier to paddle. They make a cool looking lawn chair for it but the price is ridiculous. Yes it's made in America, but for $350 I'm no fool and wilderness systems should be ashamed.

Actually I am liking the old school seats better because it's more comfortable for paddling. Seems like I can utilize my core better because I am lower to the water. I really enjoy the normal non lawn chair wilderness system offers.

I like the seat but I'm a big dude 300# 6'4" and it's a tad small. Not width wise but from back to front. It's not extraordinarly uncomfortable just not great. I haven't been in the water with it yet just sat in it in front of the TV. I think it's gonna be fine and I plan on taking it out to the rigs

I'm reluctant to drill holes in it for rod holders. It has the rails for Scotty rod holders and with a crate in the back end for PVC rod holders I think it will be fine

The Viking has been doing pretty good up here in our fresh water oceans on lake michigan and superior, although I find I end up trolling too fast at times if im not paying attention! Very easy yak to paddle

I think I seen a viking for sale at Academy. Seemed to be a decent fishing kayak. If I could have my pick and $$$ didn't matter I would get a peddle pusher if it would hold my weight. But if I need a peddle boat why not just use an outboard or trolling motor? Almost any kayak can be modified for an outboard or trolling motor fairly cheap. Actually a whole lot cheaper than a peddle boat.

Could you tell me what Academy you saw the Viking on sale for? I've been really interested in getting one. Thanks.
