High Island Spring Fishing

Post by mrkm1010 »

I haven't been BTB'n in a couple of years, but I've been getting my gear cleaned up and in order the last couple of rainy days. Anybody out there been to H.I. lately. Do you guys still fish there? Shouldn't be to long before few B.R. and a few sharks start migrating inshore. Just wondering, I've been catching some catfish below the dam at Lake Livingston when they don't have 12 gates open and had a couple of good white bass trips on the creeks in the Huntsville area. But I'm about ready for a pull. Some of the PB up in the creeks have a grudge against kayaker and it's gotten a little testy on my last trip. Evidently the don't consider a yak a "Real Boat" and enjoy cutting off your drift or trying to run over you while they are trolling in their 20 ft bay boats. I'm ready to hit the beach where they won't go.

If a nice weather window will present itself on a day I can take off, I will be headed that way.

For some reason it doesn't look bad for Saturday, but the rest of the coast sucks? I'm suspecting some kind of error in the models?

Both windfinder and magicseaweed forecast look good but it's the 80% chance of thunderstorms I'm seeing that's going to keep me away this weekend.

Hey Long time Mark

I can't go this Saturday but if another weather window opens up I've been itching to hit it again.

We've been fishing up bun sabine, but we probably need to see how HI is putting out fish.

Last year it was slow there.

Hey Wolfman, good to hear from you. Let me know when yall go. My oldest daughter is getting married next weekend but after that I'm ready for the next good day. Won't be long before some sharks start showing up close to shore.

Went to the shipping channel yesterday and the water was at 70 F, so there should be some action at HI soon.

Hey Chazbo, good to hear from you. Ivery been getting lots of surfing time in....but it seems like BTB days this spring have been few and far between. Look forward to wetting a line with tall sometime in the near future.
