Thursday - McFaddin Report
Well it wasn't a stellar day............but we couldn't blame that on the weather.
There were 12 kayakers on the water and probably no more than 10 bull reds caught. There were some nice sharks caught.........most of the fish were caught 14-16 ft of water.
The wind did get up about 1 pm and blew all afternoon.
Here is BKT with his 6 ft. blacktip:
Here's a little shark I caught.
Someone has already fixed the path around the McFaddin sign.
There were some decent sharks caught today and I will let others tell their stories.

Looks like you had a blast Bro.Gotta love those Poor Mans Marlin!
Re: Thursday - McFaddin Report
like Myth said, some of us have stories.. FIRST BTB trip!
I was out there clueless , playing with balloons like punchingclowns had told me to do.... well after about an hour of doing nothing.. as I was letting my balloon float out .. I got my first hit.. it was like a redfish on steroids... screamed the drag for about 30 seconds.... then fish off... I was using stingray......not only being clueless on BTB the kayak version, I got to use a bait I had never used - STINGRAY... well ..Myth had told me that I could use the whole stingray ( cut up of course) along with the head, so I was like "Why not?" and I proceeded to saw the head in half vertical.. and stuck half the head on the balloon rig thing with the Godzilla hook I was told to buy....remember I have always fished the marshes etc for specks and slot reds.. none of this BTB craziness....
well, I had 3 rods out, one with a crab, one with the stingray head, and I also was playing with a double trouble jig rig.... after about an hour, I got a big scream off the ray head, and a shark jumped out of the water ... scrambling to get in all of my lines, plus fighting with the anchor trolley before I ran out of line, and I thought I had lost the shark...
But.. it was still fish on...somehow... and Myth had told me about goin on a sleighride so I was like hell yeah......well, off I went and I got the shark tired in about 15 minutes or so.. BUT...I HAD to take a pic with my crappy cell phone or no one would believe me,, and the shark wasn't cooperating.. every time I precariously had the shark somewhat close to the surface, and tried to snap a pic while holding the rod with one hand, off it went again..... and this happened for about 30 minutes.. Well I finally snapped the pic, and cut the line....
Then I looked around and .... no trucks, no kayaks, no nuttin.. just a point on the shoreline. I thought I was either marooned or going to be the first casualty on BTB/TKF
.. since my dumb ass didn't have a radio, I had been pulled / blown by the wind for 30 minutes east... so .. I forced myself to shore against the wind...... and back I went slowly to the camp.... dragging my kayak/ paddle// drag some more// paddle some more..hoping against hope to not step on a ray.... apparently Jackson cudas aren't the most wind friendly kayaks..... it must have taken me a good hour and a half to get back to camp.. but at least I didn't have to call someone and have them come rescue me...
thanks to all the people also who helped unload/load my kayak since I was too lazy to bring my cart and thanks to Myth for loaning me the "CORRECT" type of anchor! I truly appreciate all the help!
I plan on making a post later for newbs on all the stuff I wish I had done/brought/known but that's for later...

Re: Thursday - McFaddin Report
One Bullred in the yak and he flipped out as the camera timer was clicking. missed a few others that could have been bulls or gaftops...
Lost one shark due to a leader being snapped. Caught a nice 5ft and 4ft Blacktip..
And I had a Jack hooked up and right at the yak I had the drag locked, he had one last burst and took off SNAP...
Towed the 4ft to the surf and landed it... Got those pics on my phone and will post later..

Re: Thursday - McFaddin Report
I'm not a very good story teller but here it goes...
Getting ready...
First fish of the day for me, a nice red. While toying around with this one, I get a run on my second line but didn't get a hook in it. Had to be a shark cause of the shape the leader was in.
Fish number two... about 4' maybe??
I think someone is taking a nap!!!
Fish number three... around 6' ? This one hit like a freight train and was hard for me to get slowed down. The MXL has around 300yds of line and it was disappearing at a rapid rate. I really didn't want to come off anchor but didn't see that I had a choice if I wanted to see this fish. So off on the sleigh ride I go. A big thanks to Myth for catching up and helping me with what has to be the biggest and strongest fish I caught in my life.
This is what I get trying to help out the little MXL!! I'll go ahead and admit that I didn't help very long!! hahaha
While Myth and I were paddling/pedaling our way back from Louisiana, I hear my wife say "fish on" on the radio. This was her first fish BTB and pretty sure it's not her last!! She has to be one of the best "potlickers" I've seen in a long while too. Not only will she get next to you and fish but while your gone, paddle over and tie up to your anchor!!
Maybe later today I can get some video posted up.
I had a great time and itchin' to go again!!!

She smooth took your spot.... I was listening to that on the radio and laughing my butt off.......
Thanks for helping me land that shark.... it was a lot smoother than I thought it was going to be.... Towing it 3/4 miles was odd but it worked and I will do that from time to time again.
I also got enough steaks off him to feed a small army.. next time I am going to completely clean one out there and pass out some meat...

Re: Thursday - McFaddin Report
Here is a little (12min) video of my three catches on Thursday. It was made with a ion S3000 that I picked up on Ebay for a whopping $25 so the quality isn't there. It has no mic so the sound isn't either!! lol
They say it's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think your a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. With this video, I guess I'm opening my mouth ... So here ya go.
