yakima problem

Post by LCVFDyak »

not new to kayak fishing but am new to yakimas.

Just bought a complete new yakima system online for my 99 Ford Explorer 4-door. However, I think I messed up by buying the 58" cross bar instead of the 66". The 58" will span the width of the car but I don't believe that it will allow me to host two WS Rides side by side with Landsharks.

Question: does anyone know of a Yakima dealing shop in the League City/South Houston area that will allow me to exchange these new 58" bars for 66" bars if I pay the retail difference in price?

or

Does anyone know if the the 58's will host the the Rides w/ saddles?

Thanks!

I use 48" cross bars with saddles. For mounting P-13 and Quest I just move the saddles to the outside as far as possible.

I an guessing you bought them online.

Just move the saddles to the outside as far as possible.

And try running one top up and one top down.
You can kind of overlap them in the middle, might help.

Thanks for the suggestions... Guess I'll just wait for the parts to get in and go from there.

Yeah, I usually try to fully support the local guys (specifically FTU - bought my yak from there and recommended them to three more friends for three more kayak sales) but when I can save over $50 by going online for the same new rack parts it's hard to pass us the savings.
