Rod Launcher

Post by jhjspecks »

well i have had a few people ask me about the rod launcher on my Quest so i figured i would take some pictures and post it on here for anyone else.

Image
the launcher was very easy to make and if you have rod holders, it gets your rods out of the water
Image
i used couplings to round off the ends and make the pvc look a little cleaned. i used a color almost making my sand Quest. i t was the plastic spray paint they had a Lowes.
Image
the two side launchers are 11 inches long
Image
and the two inside launchers are 17 1/2 inches long

you can change up the lenghts to have the launcher right on your deck, change the connections to have all the launchers straight up and down or all pointed to the rear. i am adding a mount in the center for my 360' lite and fly rod holder.

Hey... I did it...

I took your idea and fabricated it to fit my OK Speck.

I had to use 1" pvc to fit in my speck's rod holders.. and then angled the middle ones..

thanx for the great idea.. I am anxious to try it out..
Here is my finished Rocket Launcher...

I have gotten some PM's as to how I rigged my launcher to my speck .. so here are some pics and some info on how it was done..

I heated the pvc (with butane lighter) gradually to get the angle needed.
I know boiling water will do the trick... but since I was in the garage..i did not want to wait for the H20 to boil so I use a flame.. gradually turning the pvc as to not burn thru..
I then marked each piece and did a dry run.. insured it was where neeed and marked the pipes and glued each piece one by one measuring and remeasuring to insure it fit..as I went.

I did not glue the last pieces so that i could remove them from my spec. for transporation ..
I do have a hole in the with a cotter pin to secure in place.
I also secure the cross member to the yak with bungie as seen in pics.

I plan to add a 5th holder..but scaled for my 360 light... post pics once that is complete..

hope this helps.. if you have any further questions post here or PM

...let's go fishin......Coco..............

one last one ..
the bottom pvc that goes inside the holder measures 13 inches plus reducer
the rest are 8 inches with the addition of tees and finishing coupler...
