WS Ride rigging?

Post by fryfisherman10 »

I have just recently bought the WS Ride and I am havin some trouble rigging it since the well is narrower than a crate. It came standard without rodholders or anything. I was wonderin if anyone could help me with their ideas on rigging this boat in any aspect. Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

you can take a standard milk crate and cut the sides up at about a 60' angle, then flip them backwards and zip tie them back to the crate. just did this for the GF ride and it works great. i use one of the strapes to keep it in place.

paul m what did you add to the seat area in blue?
Does it keep the butt out of water. I don't mind getting wet
it is a kayak. Just sitting in water that does not drain

I can't recall who built this PVC Crate-Platform - but that's one option.
Also, the bottom picture was Artofficial's solution to the narrow cargo-bay issue.

I have a small "crate" that came with it from the container store I think.
Hold enough gear for me. I try to travel light so I don't "suck" any more water in.

Found a "File Folder Crate" that fits the "old style Ride" perfect.
It has a lid with a handle and I can strap 2 pieces of PVC to the back
for rod holders. Might drill a few holes in the bottom but with the
lid (which is removable) I like it. Should not get much water in it.
And everything wont fall out if I flip it. It is strong too not flimsy.

For that mater

Try some of the soft sided coolers if you do not want to have a crate with rod holders. You can zip up your gear and not lose anythng if you flip and most of the coolers are water proof and the side pockets are great for small gear and tackle.

If you are worried about losing gear from the basket or crate you can use a motorcycle elastic bungi net to cover the gear in the crate the hooks on the net will clip over and hold stuff in the crate.

Bad idea the "Zipper" will freeze up after a few trips.
I have one I use for bait only it has a flap on the top to reach in.
I have my first aid kit in a smaller one and needed it a few days ago for my puppy. And had to spray the zipper and work it for a few min to open it. Might work if you clean AND lube the zipper every trip but I am lucky to do my reels. The file box above will not lockup and opens real easy and you can even put a lock or a small biner clip in the hole (see bottom right corner of the 1st pic) and it will not open upside down. I am sure it will sink though so strap it down. Would make a great coller that you could "Lock Up" so Five-O will not steal your beer when he runs out   JJK Matt

I have a WS Ride and use a Milk Crate. I tied a couple of noodles (cut size to fit) on bottom of crate and use a bungee cord to secure it and also loop my straps on each side and works fine for me. :D
