I have modified a MinnKota TM into the peddle well of a Wilderness Radar 135.
I am flush with the bottom of the kayak when raised (up position) except for the skeg of the motor.
I would like opinions on what you would think about the steerability if I removed the skeg
and just used my kayak rudder ? How about in reverse ?
Im thinking about use in shallow back lakes
Thank you !

Re: Trolling Motor Skeg Removal
I would assume the trolling motor skeg depth is set to protect the trolling motor propeller from impact with the bottom - i.e., the skeg hits before the propeller. Without the skeg, the propeller is subject to rapid damage.
