HB Side scan ducer on '15 Pa14. How?

I have an older Humminbird 598 Side scan that I want to replace the helix 5 on my 2015 PA14. I don't want to mount the transducer on a side arm, I'd like to mount it in the factory spot on the boat. I'm using the 597 in a cellbloock on my trident 13 right now and don't really care for the side arm thing.
Is anybody using an older humminbird side scan transducer on their older model pa14 in the factory hole? What exactly do I need to make it work? I know Hobie sells a cover plate that works with a Lowrance totalscan. Will this work for What I'm trying to do? I don't really feel like upgrading to a new fishfinder.
