Anyone ever try one of those ugly green shrub support stakes as an kayak pin? I just pulled one out that was no longer needed. It's about 6' long, very light, even has a sharp point. Tough enough that I can pound it into rocky soil with a hammer and not hurt the stake. Rig up something on the top to hook a rope to and you'd have a cheap pin.
I haven't tried it yet, I've never carried an kayak pin anchor. Just wondering....
Shrub Stakes for an Anchor Pin

I use one and love it! I epoxied a PVC T on the top to help push it in. I’ve even worked it in through oysters.

Re: Shrub Stakes for an Anchor Pin
my friend has tried one of those.
Another stake-out pole was a gate-hook from a tack shop - he ground the hook off and made it pointed.
When I bought my kayak, asked the owner (forgot his name) of long-defunct Kokomo Kayaks to throw in a stake-out pole, so I got the good one - it slides into Scotty rings
