What's the best way to securely attach 3" dia x 8ft length pvc pipes to 1" solid steel load bar?
Am thinking about drilling a whole in the lower part of the pipe and using several 14" zip ties to hold it down.

U-Bolts.
Cut slots in the PVC where U-bolt will fit snugly in and not be sticking up so that your kayak may hit it. Tighten them down and go fishing! try to get SS bolts if possible. If not then coat them after install to make them last in saltwater.
You'll be replacing zip ties every month with exposure.

Thinking may give one of the following u-bolts a try. Drill through pvc and fasten to the load bar.
