I put this on my Ascend paddle a long time ago and it STILL works well. You can apply new coats if you wear it off but I haven't yet!

Interesting stuff Rich. Have to wonder if it would also reduce your paddle friction (i.e. contact with the water) and thus reduce your paddling efficiency.

Well, all that we need to solve that question is a Fluid Dynamics Engineer. The teacher at U of H who did the "Engines of Our Ingenuity" radio spot, John Lienhard, could answer it.
Or, you could call "Click and Clack", the auto guys...they answered all sorts of queries...Oh, they are no longer making new shows. One of them got ill, I believe.
Last few years, I've been a fair-weather yakker. A little spray hasn't hurt. But, late Fall or
Winter, that spray can get chilly.

The longevity of most finishes has a lot to do with the surface preparation.

Re: Dripless paddle...?
It does not make that much difference in drag while paddling. If there is it is minimal at best. I cleaned the paddle and applied like instructions but added a 3rd coat. I put it on pretty heavy and it has lasted. It can be rubbed off with abrasives or by using it in the mud and the sand and rocks scrap it off.
It is a good deal if you are always getting wet. It does make your "black" paddle blade look a bit "frosty" with the coating on it but it has not been an issue for me.
