High on the ceiling

Post by mpg2yahoo »

Got two bike lifts from Amazon for $22 and decided to reclaim some space in the garage this weekend instead of going fishing.

Had the WS Ride 115 on its side by the garage wall and needed extra space for my BBQ, bikes, etc. Decided to lift the kayak and get more walking space in the garage.

After a couple of hrs finding the studs and mounting the lift this is the final product. Very satisfied with the lift.

Looks awesome! I thought about doing something similar to that with my last kayak, but got a trailer instead when I got a hobie.

First off, your garage is entirely too clean and organized! 8)

But I agree with the ceiling storage. While I'm now down to one kayak, I have 3 Harken Hoists that totally free up the floor space.

How did you get it so close to the ceiling?

I cannot get mine to get that close

Had a problem clearing the garage door cuz the kayak lift kept it maybe a foot and a half lower. I used 4 round eye screws attached to the 2*6 wood frame and two straps with the ratchet to lift it the rest of the way to clear the door.

Since I don't use the yak often unless I hit the marsh this worked fine to have more storage clearance.

Sorry to wake an old post but how much room do you have between your garage door and ceiling when it's opened?

Probably less than 3 ft. from the garage door to the ceiling.
