Homemade 360° Light
Got this idea from someone on this forum. Here is how I made my 360° light for early morning launching.
In this first pic it shows the light black LED light I got for free from Harbor Freight which fits snugly inside of a 1" PVC Pipe some super glue that I used to attach a clear cylinder which was part of a night light I bought at Walmart for $2.88. I superglued it to a 1" coupler. In this pic you see how I put a screw through the pvc pipe so that the light would stick out a certain amount and would not fall thru the pipe. I then take the superglued coupler and clear cylinder and put it on top of the light and onto the pvc pipe. All you do is click the light on then insert it into the pipe and then put the top onto it. This allows you to turn light on and off and change batteries when needed.

Here is a pic of the light inside my closet. It gives alot of light and I think it should be visible from a good distance.

Re: Homemade 360° Light
If you can find a blind spot mirror (round one) in the right size, you could glue it to the top of the night light case and it'll disperse the light 360 even more

Re: Homemade 360° Light
Exactly what I was thinking though probably should have done that before adding the super glue but still might be able to fit it throught the couplerFin-Addict wrote:If you can find a blind spot mirror (round one) in the right size, you could glue it to the top of the night light case and it'll disperse the light 360 even more
Re: Homemade 360° Light
and if you put that on a 5' pipe it looks like that would be bright enough to bait hooks by...

Re: Homemade 360° Light
No, I don't but it is in the home section really cheap night light that plugs into the wall. Make sure it is the cylinder type and not the ones that are open to the wall. They are about $2.88ClovisMan wrote:Hey Gabe, do you still have the night-light package from Walmart? What is the sku number off that baby. Re: Homemade 360° Light
I got the magnetic trailer lights yesterday and that little flashlight kicks butt. And it's free.
Re: Homemade 360° Light
The $10 magnetic trailer lights? I went in there last week and they were marked at $19 and they said they couldn't sell them to me for $10 until the sale started on 4/8. I might go tonight if they are selling them for $10.Flatfish wrote:I got the magnetic trailer lights yesterday and that little flashlight kicks butt. And it's free.

You have to have the coupon. Do a search, somebody posted it up a couple weeks agorustoleum wrote:The $10 magnetic trailer lights? Re: Homemade 360° Light
Here is the link with the coupon that is good from 3/5/10-4/25/10 for the lights and the free flashlight. One of the other links posted showed that the sale wouldn't start til some time later but I was able to get the lights and the flashlight with this ad in hand

Yup, I was looking at the ad and missed the coupon. We'll wait and see when I can get there now.

Re: Homemade 360° Light
I made mine today. Didn't have time to make it to HF. I stopped at walmart and got the night light and went to home depot and got the 1" pvc and 1 cap and coupler. They had a set of two small LED flash lights for $4.97. So i got all of that and sanded the outer housing of the flashlight a little and it works like a charm. i dont have the complete pic, but i have pics of the creation

Re: Homemade 360° Light
How do you go about mounting the light? Do you just put it on your crate?

Re: Homemade 360° Light
Yeah I just put a piece of 1-1/4" pvc pipe onto my crate and the 1" pipe the light sits on fits snuggly in. Used it this weekend and it worked like a charm
Re: Homemade 360° Light
that is awesome great idea. thanks.
are they required when out on the water in the dark like early morning or evening? i dont ever night fish but i have launched in the dark and gotten back to the truck after sundown before. does it have to be a certain height if its required?

Re: Homemade 360° Light
All that is "required" is a flashlight. A pole mounted stern light is just a good/smart/safe idea.
