I have a sahara 2000 and it has a tendency to lock up between trips is there anything I can do to make sure it stays loose or am I out of luck? :?:

Clean it. OR take it somewhere to get it cleaned.

I've had apart 10 times Needless to say I'm not doing it correctly. will a shop show you how to clean it the right way? when it finally loosens up the the thing reels both directions. is there a reel cleaning for idiots book out there. lol

As far as reeling in both directions, sounds like the anti-reverse is not installed right or you have it turned off?

Ith BIG NO NO is oil and greese----More is NOT better, use very little.

The only real book out there is the break-down that came with your reel. :lol:

Well said Pit, it sounds like the anti-reverse is off, I usually clean my reels with fresh water after every trip and every once in a while I add a little Reel Magic from Academy. This keeps mine working well.

Thanks guys I'll be more carefull and a little less liberal with the oil.

Thanks Jim for the sticky I used the spinning reel cleaning link you put on there and it worked this evening hopefully it will still be working Sat on the water.
