New on the Salt.

Post by Millsman5 »

New to Saltwater skinny fishing. I have been going to Pierce Marsh and Highland Bayou alot. I have noticed when I go into some of the draws I see alot of fish moving, can see the V across the water. No matter how far away I cast or how stealthy I am, I cannot get a bite. Are these reds or the horse mullet that I hear about and is there a way of telling which they are?

If they are redfish you will see a mud streak from them taking off, if they are mullet there will not be a mudstreak. You should try to enter the marsh from the Harborwalk side instead of the North side. I have caught a lot of fish on the south side of the marsh. Take a look at the southwest portion of PM on google earth.

Is there a good place to park there? I have heard alt of private areas and break-ins from around there.

Probably mullet. Reds will also push a 'wake' ...sorta like a sub.
