Full Moon Fishing

Post by crusher »

The full moon was out that night so fishing was terrible slow
The full moon has the fish biting good right now
and full moon caused them to have lockjaw
fish return to early morning feeding after the full moon and leading up to the full moon
I don't follow the moon much so I can't help you. I do follow the tides...
Redfish will feed at night using the full moon as a 'flashlight' and tend to not bite early in the morning because they are full. By 10AM or so, its brunchtime
I'm not entirely new, but thought I'd share how we can use the Search function on TKF to gather info from many years of previous posts.

Being a full moon today and the early waxing gibbous this Saturday and further waxing on Monday when I hope to get out Sat and Monday, I thought I'd learn from TKF experts about fishing at or right after a full moon. A search for " +full +moon " turned up a lot of posts and replies. I'm still digesting everyone's posted opinion and experiences. If I get the pass from the boss, I'm going regardless of my conclusions - then I'll have my own data points for the conditions at the time. From what I gather though, morning fishing on full moon days may be slow.

"morning fishing on full moon days may be slow."..

That's my story and I am sticking to it.

However, lately , any time of the day or night has been slow for me.

I always heard that during the full moon, the bait is really active and the fish feed all night, so the next morning is not too good. I just go when I can and hope for the best :D

;-) Unless the moon is still on the horizon...and then it can be on like donky kong. There's usually a better mid day bite with a full moon.

My experience, fishing BTB, is that the fish bite best in the afternoons............after a night of full moon.

I subscribe to the Rancid Crabtree philosophy where he states that the best time to go fishing is when it's a rainin' and when it ain't. Don't stay home just cuz conditions may not be optimal. That being said, I would probably choose wade or shore fishing over yakking when the wind is howling but I am still going fishing when I get the opportunity. I have had fantastic and lousy fishing in all sorts of conditions. Just have fun and be safe no matter when you go. Tho' one may need to be careful of wolf fish during the full moon.
