New to kayak fishing (North Texas)

Post by logan.derrick »

I had a Tarpon 100 a few years ago and life got in the way and I never got to even use it and ended up selling it. I just recently got a roof rack for my GTI, so I decided it was time to get back into it again and get serious about it this time.

I found a used Tarpon 140 with Hobie Amas outrigger and a brand new ACK seat for $500 in absolutely perfect shape, so I jumped on it and will be picking it up on Thursday when my roof rack gets here. This thing is in amazing shape - I kinda know the guy who is selling it (some of you guys may know him, Shannon from Texasflycaster), and it's been garage kept and looks brand new.

Anyways, I will be looking for a depth finder for it soon, anyone got any recommendations on that?

Also, where are some good spots to try it out in North Texas (McKinney/Plano area)?

Don't know how the drive would be for you, but Buck Creek landing on Ray Roberts (hwy 377) sees a lot of Kayak activity.
