Del Rio - Lake Amistad

Post by RigMover »

My wife and I stayed at the Villa Del Rio B&B (www.villadelrio.com) and had a great time. The owner, a kayaker / canoeist, and good host is offering a 10% discount to guests that bring their kayak or canoe with them.
While there we participated in a canoe trip to visit Parida Cave and another undocumented Indian cave with a lot of paintings. Saw amazing scenery in the Pecos and Rio Grande canyons along with a flooded railway tunnel that was full of bats at the time.
Check the above website for 2 links to numerous kayak trails prepared by Amistad National Recreational Area personnel. Also check the TourdeTejas.org website (presently being revised) about the canoe trip that the owner of Villa Del Rio, Jay J. Johnson is organizing to promote eco-tourism in the area. The trip will cover the complete length of the Rio Grande and have rotating participants.

Enjoy
