Re: HELP FOR THIS WEEKEND
Broad question, but here goes:
1) Huntsville State Park-good fishing, gators to see and beautiful hiking/biking trails. About 1 hour from H-town.
2) Inks Lake State Park- ditto, no gators-visit Longhorn Cavern State Park and take the cave tour. Consider climbing up Enchanted Rock State Park. Just drive north to Georgetown and avoid Austin like the plague. Trust me.
3) goose island state park, or find an affordable motel in Rockport. Rockport should be good for fishing, renting kayaks for a nice paddle on the flats, hot breakfast, even an art gallery if you get bored.
4) Gruene Texas (west of New Braunfels)- some affordable motels exist, eat at the Grismill, rent an inflatable kayak and catch trout
5) Fredericksburg- join the shoppers, entertain the wife and leave your tackle at home
Can you tell I should have been a tour guide? I always vote for state parks, if you can find a campsite in the Spring short notice.
