Kayak fishing the Lone Star State...

Out of nowhere my wife asked if we could get away for a weekend without the kids and go kayaking. I kayak fish regularly, but she is pretty green. The only request she has is that there must be good food in the area.

Im looking for a nice place to spend a couple days on the water with someone less experienced. Maybe an easy river float or a quiet lake. Something within a 2-3 hours of McKinney with some decent food and lodging.

Any suggestions?

I live on South Padre Island, and I kayak all the time on the bay. It's very safe (most areas in the bay are only 2 feet deep) , clear and if you launch at the south point you can kayak with the dolphins. Fishing is excellent for speckled trout and Redfish. I've been kayak fishing here for over 23 years and I also have beach houses that have carports for your gear. www.padrebeachhouses.com Come on down and maybe we can fish here together either on the bay or on the surf provided the surf is calm.
