Quicker & Better Steel Cut Oats

15 minute - Steel Cut Oats - (kind of)

INFREDIENTS:
1 Cup steel cut oats
3 Cups water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 Cup walnuts, toasted and chopped
1/2 Cup Apple Cider
1/2 Cup whole milk
2 T dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 Cup grated apple (Fuji or sim)

DIRECTIONS:
NIGHT BEFORE:
Bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and add oats & salt, stir, cover and let sit overnight.

MORNING OF:
Add the apple cider, milk, sugar, cinnamon and grate & add the apples. Turn heat on high and once it simmers, reduce heat to medium and cook until thick (about 10 minutes). Toast and chop the walnuts. When oatmeal is done let sit uncovered for 5 minutes to firm up. Spoon into bowls and sprinkle w walnuts.

Added ingredients, some I have never used. You also do the pre-morning soak, which I have never done.

I usually put them in the pot and cook them... process does take a very long time. I will try this, it sounds great.
