I'm pretty sure no one here likes good chocolate cake, but here goes anyhow................

Grandmas' Brownie Cake

2c sugar
2c flour
2 sticks margarine
4 T cocoa (I use Dark)
1c hot water
1t soda
2 eggs,beaten
pinch salt
1/2c buttermilk
1t vanilla

Mix sugar and flour, set aside.
Bring to boil margarine, cocoa, and hot water. Pour over sugar/flour mixture.
Add soda, beaten eggs, buttermilk, vanilla and salt.
Pour into greased and floured 9"x13" pan.
Bake at 375 for 25-30 min.

Let cool until warm to touch. Poke about a dozen holes, (if you've always wanted diabetes overnight, punch 2 dozen holes) evenly spaced, with back of a wood spoon, or anything of similar size. Use a fork to poke in areas around the edges and between the bigger holes.

Frosting

1 stick margarine
4T cocoa
3 oz milk
1# box confectioners sugar
1t vanilla
1c nuts (optional, your choice pecans, walnuts)

Bring to boil margarine, cocoa and milk. Pour over sugar and mix well.
Add vanilla and nuts.

Pour into big holes and over entire cake. Use spatula to frost, going back over
bigger holes as frosting seeps into surrounding cake.

For even more fun, double or triple the recipe, and make 2 or 3 cakes so you won't run out too quickly!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

These cakes are great anytime, but .............better 2 or 3 days out compared to the first day, if you can keep from eating the whole thing with a half gallon of cold milk in one sitting. They get more delicious as time passes!!!

You know it's an old recipe (50s or 60s ??) because of the use of margarine.

My Mom and Grandma both had a bunch of recipes with margarine instead of butter.

I will be making this, with butter, and will let you know how it turns out.
