Oklahoma Red Fish (Carp)

I took my Solo Skiff out to a local lake here in Central Oklahoma this week for a test drive. Took along the fly rod too to maybe chase some common carp. Water was dirty but I was able to see a few. Usually I will catch 1 of maybe 30 that I cast to but on this day I caught 6 of 10. Record day and great practice for my upcoming coast trip.

Stalking carp is very similar to stalking red fish and once hooked they are a similar fight too. I was using a black wooly bugger looking fly tied on #10 hook with small bead chain eyes. The fish in the picture was 25" and I would guess about 8 lbs. You can't put a lot of pressure on a fish that big on that #10 hook.

All that's missing is the tail spot. Hope AP treats you well next month. I'll try to make the fall trip.. Well done.
