Need more hands on your vise when tying?
You can go out and buy the bobbin cradle to hang your thread when tying or a parachute hackle holder which will cost you about $20 a piece.
Or you can make your own using some items from Home Depot or Lowe's. You can buy a few "3/8 inch steel set screw collar" ($1.01) and a "1/8 inch x 36 inch Round Rod" ($2.21) or a "1/8 inch x 36 inch brass round rod" ($9.87).
Then drill a 1/8 inch hole on the side of the set screw collar. You can make it go all the way through or just enough to not break through the other side. Either way the rod will fit perfectly in the hole. You can super glue the one end in the hole and bend the wire to your liking or needs. Either a tall parachute post hackle helper or a simple bobbin thread cradle. Your imagination can run wild!
You can get two or three pieces from the 36" rod so you can buy 2 or 3 collars for them. So for less than $6 you can make 3 tolls for your vise.
Have fun!

Here is how my vise looks. I made the cradle and parachute from the rod I bought. I had extra clamps already but will put my new homemade collars on. I bought the 5" mirror from Amazon for $4 and used an adapter from a soldering helping hand devise. The small mirror was too small to see my flies.

Very nicely done.
I've recently built a few of these extremely bright combo light and tool holders. Delivers 16,000 Lux of daylight white light at the vise tip.
