Dollar Store Finds

Post by kickingback »

Went to the Dollar store to spend some dollars. Found some nice fly tying materials! I couldn't believe I got all this for less than $25!
Wooden beads, glitter paper and tape, feathers, mylar tubing (lots), foam pencil holders and chenille mitts.

Another good place to find materials is Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

Thanks. I will and post.
I have ravaged BOTH Hobby Lobby stores in my area...lol They can be a bit overpriced but I get some nice supplies from them as well.

Did a couple of salt flies with foam inserts and the glitter tape. Added eyes and glued seams and epoxied head.
Took pictures with and without flash on each of these two flies. They are not perfect as I just wanted to see how they look and float. Float perfect. Added just enough foam to make them almost buoyant. They sink when pulled and very slowly rise.
will do some more with the mylar tubing soon and post.
