Found this tape at Wal-Mart yesterday and thought it would make a good tie body material. Cheap and looks good.
Made these real quick wanted to see how they look.
Will add weight or foam to make them buoyant or slow sinking. I love looking for new tying materials everywhere I go.

That looks interesting. With a strip of foam inside the folded tape I think you have yourself a winner of a just under the surface minnow.
This is a 5 minute fly. Just the kind I like.
It the tape soft or hard and do you think it will hold up to fish eating it or does it need to be coated with epoxy?

Re: Nice Tape for Flies
If you look closely I put epoxy on the eyes and head near hook eye to hold it and I put a bead of super glue all the way down the length of tape where it meets to keep it closed together. When i do tie some new ones I will do a few hitches of thread to hold it secure just like with gummy minnow skin.GoDoe wrote:That looks interesting. It is soft and pliable and feels good. It does not have the action of gummy minnow silicone but close to it. It was like $2 a roll.
