Finally got out this evening for some long overdue fishing. I've really been wanting to get out and get my "fish on" but It's been so hot of late I haven't had much interest in going. Today a buddy sent me a pic of a toad of a bass he caught yesterday and it got me all fired up.
I went to small lake a couple of miles from my house on the LBJ Grasslands this eveving. No wind but the temperature just didn't feel as hot as it has lately even tho the temp gauge in my truck still read 94 degrees at 7pm. I guess the humidity was a bit lower than it has been.
The only bait I threw was a small jointed Rapala crankbait in green crawfish. The bass seemed to love it. I think I caught 13. Nothing huge but they all fought like the were. Biggest one was about 2 lbs and fat as a football.
I got my fix and I feel better now.
Here's a few pics

Re: A nice evening and a few bass
Thanks guys.
A bonus to yesterdays bass excursion was that I got try out a couple of new reels that I bought on a lightning deal off Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HQRQJG3/re ... kDbV5P3PE3
At normally $59.98 each, I got them on a lightning deal for $33 a piece. I got one in 7.3:1 and one in 6.6:1. I'm extremely pleased with these so far and would actually consider them a great deal even at full price. I spooled the 7.3 with 15lb mono and the 6.6 with 50lb braid. Not sure how they will fare long term and I'll have to wait til I can get to the coast again to see how they hold up in the salt. But as far as operation, they are incredibly smooth and cast as well as any reel I've owned. I would definitely recommend them at this point.

Nice catches. I gave my local pond a shot last weekend till it was dark with no luck here. Really hot at night
