Just recently moved back to Texas from Virginia and I'm looking for any tips and/or launch sites within an hour from Waco. I've been fishing from a yak for about 5 years now and I'm not too familiar with Waco and the surrounding areas. I currently fish from a predator 13. Any help or anyone who wouldn't mind getting together to fish one day let me know!
Tight lines,
Brian

Appreciate the links to the launch sites. I've heard good things about the middle Bosque. Do you have launch and have someone drive you back to the truck up-river or can you paddle back to the launch??zeos wrote:Here are the places I fish most often.

Re: Waco Yakkers???
I use to live in Waco, we would kayak the Brazos. Down by MCC the we'd put in and paddle up under that bridge. Also Cameron park, the road on mouth of bosque, at the very end the river splits in two and on the split there are some big rocks that we liked to fish. The Waco dam if you can find a way to get over there now its full of white and hybrid bass. A few months ago I went back and all the water front parks near there were closed due to a flood that was almost a year ago...

At hog creek wma (middle bosque/lake waco) you are basically in the lake. I have gone up river from there about 2 miles, but that was with lots of water flowing.Saltytxn12 wrote:Appreciate the links to the launch sites. I've heard good things about the middle Bosque. From the 3047 bridge you can go up river about a mile with a little dragging. Going down I would get someone to drive me back, you can paddle back up but there are several shallows spots that are 100% rock and slick as ice.

Belton Lake has some good opportunity. I like to put in at Iron Bridge Park and paddle up the Leon. Good fishing and usually pretty easy paddling. Great when the whites are running. Then after you are tired from the day of catching fish, you can just float back down to the truck.
