White Bass Run at Middle Bosque River is On!!

Post by Centexfisherman »

Caught 15 White Bass on Monday near confluence of South Bosque River and Middle Bosque River near Waco. Not sure what this latest front will do. Maybe slowdown, but should pick back up toward end of week. As an added bonus, I rested my ultra-light spinning for a little while and started throwing a topwater popper on my baitcaster. Huge splash near a log yielded a 22-inch 6 1/2 lb Largemouth. See that big belly. I think she is ready to lay eggs and is nowback in the river to give us some baby bass. Tight Lines......

My sons and I have been hitting that same area pretty hard the past week or so. Decent catches. Monday I brought home 8 very nice crappie and 9 good sized whites. I don't think I would call the run "on" but it is certainly leading up to it. Two inches of rain yesterday will likely slow things down a bit but it won't stop me from heading back out there tomorrow for certain. My best luck has come from slow trolling (either in my kayak or 16' flat bottom) with chartreuse 1/16th Road Runner about 4 to 5 feet. Crappie have come from 1/8 oz jig head tipped with minnows out in front of stumps (on the river side).

Yes...or on the way. White Bass are heading upriver to spawn...and are hungry.

Awesome!! Just recently moved back to Texas from Virginia and I'm looking for any pointers / launch sites. Do you float the river down stream and have someone pick you up or can you paddle back to your launch site. Been kayak fishing for about 5yrs now. Currently tly fish from a predator 13. If your ever looking for someone to fish with, let me know!

Tight lines,

Brian

I'm new the Waco area. Does anyone know a good place to put kayaks in the South or middle Bosque River. I went to the HWY 84, but my health and wife's bad knee makes that part too difficult.
