Brays Bayou - Hwy 6

Post by jgj5533 »

Has anyone ever fished this retention pond between Hwy 6 and Eldridge? Brays flows into it and I was wondering if it has areas deep enough to hold some decent fish or if it's just a shallow retention pond.

I've seen people bank fishing around there almost every time i've passed by, but that's not very often. i've always wondered about that myself.

With the size of it I'd assume it'd have some fish. I noticed a few dead end roads that run into the lake. I'd like to launch the yak at one of them, but it may be a little sketchy to leave a parked car there.

Its been a while since I passed by there. Neighborhood is a little iffy, so it's best to keep valuables out of sight in your truck.

As far as the fishing, I only bank fished it twice.
First time, I've seen some mullet leap out plus what I think were minnows/shad, I got skunked.
Second time, saw the same thing, and I foul hooked a buffalo.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea how deep it is?

Not really.
I can give an educated guess and say it's roughly 5-10 feet, since its a flood retention pond.

Thanks. That's deeper than what I was thinking. I was concerned that the most of it might only be a couple feet deep.

I KNOW some pretty carp get pulled out of there. Don't know what else.
