Upper Amistad Lower Devils River

Anybody ever fished this area in the early spring for whites/hybrids during the spawn run? Thinking about camping at Rough Canyon and maybe paddle up the Devils.

For the spring of 2012, 13, 14 we killed the whites, bass and catfish at the old 277 bridge. When I left Amistad a couple of days ago the bridge was flooded to the bottom of the railing and accessible by boat only. The newly flooded section of that arroyo should be good from a yak. I plan to get back there in less than a week to try my luck again. By the way spring is late January to mid March on Amistad from my experiences there.

Amistad is on my radar for spring. After fishing there for a couple of hours in April, I’m in the mood to spend a couple of days doing some serious adventuring and angling. Maybe even some catching.
