Post by Boar »

Has anyone tried striper fishing out in the lakes fron canoes/yaks?
or jug fishing for cats?
I got to run jug lines on whitney all night only thing i caught was a 35# gar but was a blast chasing jug across lake in a canoe in the middle of the night.

I do a lot of trolling out of my kayak...and I do very well. You'll catch white bass, stripers, black bass, and sometimes a channel cat. I really believe I have some advantage over the larger boats when trolling. I'm going a good speed, following the drop offs, thermoclines, brush etc....and sometimes have a ball. I do most of my fishing on Belton Lake...since that is the closeest place to me. I'm not a saltwater guru, but there are some people that do ok out there. I'm learning more all the time.

Have had great success trolling at Cedar Creek Lake. My brother and I trolled Model 9S Shad Raps about 5 miles with Hybrids, Striper, Sandies, and Black Bass caught.
I did get skunked at Texoma yesterday, but we left kind of early and saw some surface action as we drove out. Going back there in two weeks to try again.
