Yeah, I thought that too,,,,, the bigger teams quickly portaged and were on their way. Seemed like some of the smaller rigs had problems, big problems!
Thanks for all the comments! How about that photog in the water at RV with a wide angle lens. Id love to see what he got! Anyone know who that was?
I have high rez images of all of these and more if anyone wants a copy, email me.
Where can we see results? The TWS website isnt much help.

Man, those are great photos! I have been looking for an update all day, two of my good friends are in the race, and I can't get ahold of their captain to see how they are doing. You got some great photos of them on photos 201-205. If you can, I woulld love to have the hi-res images of those so I can print them out for my buddies.

Thanks for taking the time to get all of those great photos!

That was my biggest fear (before we had to cancel) leading up to the race...hitting a choppy bay tired and at night. We were planning on trash bags and duct tape for a spray skirt, and I had visions of us sinking that canoe

Rest Of Today...South wind 20 to 25 knots. Bays choppy to occasionally rough.

Tonight...South wind 20 to 25 knots decreasing to 15 to 20 knots after midnight. Bays choppy to occasionally rough.

Tuesday...South wind 15 to 20 knots. Bays choppy.

Tuesday Night...Southeast wind 15 to 20 knots. Bays choppy.

Wednesday...Southeast wind 10 to 15 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots. Bays choppy.

Doesn't look like it will be laying anytime soon either

Dude, your fears were well founded. The upper race looked great, lots of pushy flow and cushiony levels ....... but then came the lower end. Lots of carnage at Alligator Lake, and the Bay was Brutal. Most boats walked the last couple-few miles, only the few, the proud, the ones with superior spraydecks and seamanship actually made it to the finish with the keel pointed down. Maybe one in ten? Did I say it was Brutal?

I'll post some pics soon ........ just got home........

Great Pics. Thanks for sharing.

We were boat 97, Gaud Squad. We may be famous for our spot tracker plot around alligator lake. ha. We were close to finding the right cut and getting to slough and back to river but 2am and no sleep things get silly. Went back to river and did the long portage at daylight.

Bay was a joy. We dumped 4 times. Trying to keep up the spray cover and paddle with waves crashing into you is a challange. Boat would keep adding water and start to roll and soon she would just go over. Last time we got it empty and made it across barge canal before we went over. Ended up walking it to the finish line. WE really wanted a top 15 but got 17th overall. Always great to finish and still have working organs.

Neches river race Augsut 7th. Great race for SOTs.

Enjoy the Pix!

I seem to have that happy camper face in all your photos. I need to learn to work for the camera. Will practice some better poses for "next" time. 2012 maybe.

Sad to see us drag the boat in but at that point it was all we could do. We wanted to at least be in the water but it was time to concede and get done.

We appreciate everyone who was there to cheer us on and take pictures. All the racers are very thankful for the support we get.

Thanks to all
