Anyone take your yaks down to the Guadalupe for winter trout fishing?
I'm wanting to do a weekend camping/fishing trip for rainbow trouts in the winter, if anyone has recommendations on campgrounds and where to laaunch from it'd be greatly appreciated.

I'll second L&L. For a real long day trip you could do the dam down to L&L, for a decent trip you could do the Horseshoe down to L&L and for a shorter trip you could go from Rio Raft (4th Xing) down to L&L. Great trout fishing between the Horseshoe and L&L.

Thank you both for the input, i'll start looking at booking a date and hopefully I can get out there and catch some rainbows.

A buddy of mine had a bunch of acreage past the horseshoe. Used to tear up the rainbows there.
Just make sure you know the regs regarding retaining trout in certain areas.
http://www.grtu.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; will have details including maps. Especially for the "trophy trout zone".
My 11 year old's personal best is 21 inches.
Have fun!!
