Did anyone duck hunt South of I-10 last weekend???

Post by TomL »

Just curious if any of you South Zone hunters tried your luck on ducks last weekend, and if so, how you did?

I anxiously awaiting the opening of the North Zone duck season on Nov. 8th.

i lease some acreage (marsh) down close to the coast, smith point area. four of us lease it, we have 6 ponds, 26 pits. only 4 guys hunted saturday, 4 sunday. they limited each day, but took awhile. little more than half teal, mostly gadwall for rest of limits.

they told me it was really slow sunday.

I hunted Saturday and Sunday. Slow both days. Saturday - 15 miles south of Eagle Lake - we killed 10 teal between five of us. But there was hardly any birds in the area. Very slow. Sunday about 5 miles NE of Eagle Lake - more birds in sight, but nothing really working. Still slow. Geese were moving through high and fast. Everything was high and wary. We had one group of pintails worked down and around about 4 times, but not close enough. Had one stray teal buzz the blind and that's the only bird we shot at.
