CHRISTMAS EVE HUNTING....SOUTH TEXAS STYLE

Post by LOOKN4REDS »

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
So wouldn’t you know
I’m out at the ranch
But the hunting is slow.

The feeders were filled
The corn it was spread
With visions of a buck
With 10 points on it’s head.

Asleep in my bed
I hear such a clatter
What in the hell…
Is making that splatter.

I turn on the light
And open the door
It’s raining like hell
And all over the floor!

Morning is here I’m dressed and well fed
Hot coffee and biscuits I no longer feel dead.
I stumble in the dark in search of my blind
Where wind and rain is just what I find.

No rain gear
No gloves
No face mask that’s odd.
That’s just my luck as I climb my…. TRIPOD.

Now I sit and I wait
For something to see.
Ohhh boy Ohhh boy
I REALLY gotta pee!

For hours I sit
I’m drenched to the skin.
No bucks and no does
It’s happened again.

No problem I say
And smile with a grin
Lunch and a drink
And we’ll do’er again.

I’ll call you folks later
When this is all done.
And wish you a Merry Christmas
That was just too much fun.

MERRY CHRISTMAS Y’ALL

Better luck next time. I am headed to Zapata for New Years in hopes of a trophy buck.

I feel ya. Saturday I spent the evening atop my tree with 36 degree temps, the North wind blowing and rain coming down. I didn't have a rainsuit, but I was not going to let that buck slip by me.

My wife says I'm crazy and FIL says I'm hardcore. I can't disagree with either take on my hunting behavior. At least I wasn't kayaking in it. :)

Superb lines! I liked your post dear! We booked best party venue nyc to celebrate “CHRISTMAS EVE-2014”. After a long time I celebrated Christmas with my childhood friends. It was a fantastic night!
