Best hunting and fishing boat?

Post by guest »

Guys, I've been debating this with myself for several months. I want something that I can toss in the back of the truck and duck hunt and fish out of. I'm a big guy, so it has to be stable, have a large carry capacity and functional. I've considering a pirouge style phlat yak, or an Ocean Kayak Ambush, or maybe a small jon boat. I've posted this same question on different sites with different results. Any recommendations?????

The ambush is good if you want a barge that holds a lot and is really slow.
I've paddled it tandem, but not solo.
I've got 2 Drifters, wide, lots of storage and stable. My bird hunting bud and I are using them this year for all our duck hunting. Have already started getting the big yellow pup in it and floating around the pool to get him used to it. He did great and retrieved right back to the yak.
Good luck whatever you get.

I have a T120 and I hope to be duck hunting out of it this year. We'll see how that goes though. The Driter definetly is a lot more stable and it still has that "yak" feel. Mellon - Where do you hunt? I'm new to the kayak duck hunting thing, but I've hunted ducks my whole life.
