I saw these a few years ago when they came out but just thought about using it for kayaking. It would be awesome to motor out 5 or more miles to the rigs and tie this thing off, then go about kayak fishing as normal. Check out the link..

To tell you the truth, that's the best idea I've seen yet as far as getting to farther spots... Thanks UofH!

The one of the concerns I might have about using this would be thr 6 gal gas tank.......think that is enought to where you want to go and return?

You can probably keep a spare in the kayak if you need. I bet 6 gallons goes along way because it is just a little 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine. It wouldnt take nearly as much power to pull a kayak vs a skier.

I would have to tie it up to my kayak. No way I would hold on to any thing to tow me for 5 miles.

Good thing I have two real boats to get me to rigs and beyond.

Wonder what kind of range this toy gets.

This does seem like fun though.

That's what I figured! Nothing that looks like that, runs like that, and is remotely controlled by computerization is going to be cheap.

If I was going to spend that much money, I'd spend more on an El Pescador and let the $11,000 be part of the payment.

i have some questions about this...

if i was to build anything like this to tow me around...

would it be looked at as a real vehicle or a remote control model?

and...

would i have to register it with the state?

several years ago, (like 12) I was into building R/C 3 point hydro but the big models mine was 5ft x 2.5 ft with a big weed eater motor on it and I use to go to Taylor lake to test it and being careful I always tethered it to my john boat .
what was funny was to pass by people at about 10 mph in a john boat being pulled by a toy hydro boat .

You could probably build something out of a jet ski engine to do the same thing.

In the winter, you can find jet skis, particularly the older models, much cheaper. Maybe you can find one that the body has been cracked but the motor is still good. All things are available to those who wait, look, listen, and Google.

The Gibbs is awesome that's what i want. lol

a boat with wheels 0-60 in 9.2sec. is fast.

I wonder how you would have to register that thing.

Good question, but I to was surprised at the speed in the water. I bet something ends up defective on those wheels. It is a sweet ride though.

What where the OLD cars called that could do that as well? They had a prop in the back and we made to drive strait into the water, but the wheels did not "retract".

Edit: I don't think it does 0-60 in 9.2sec in the water, but watching the vid, it goes faster that I thought an SUV would in the water.

I have mine for over 4 years now and love it. Of course I am a water ski junkie. I own a wet suit and ski year round. As for you question of range I ski full throttle and burn through about a gallon every 8 minutes. If you are putting around pulling your kayak I don't know how far you could go. But if you are a skier and want to get looks from the boaters, this is the way to go.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to work out the fabrication of putting that little engine in the back of your kayak and making a prop that lowers in and out of the water like a rudder? It would be a cool toy to own though - but mixing it with a kayak?

Personally I think motors on kayaks are stupid (unless due to age or disability) If you want a motor boat - go buy one. But that is just my opinion on the matter. Obviously others feel differently.
