Tom/Clay Galveston area Kayak meeting????
Tom/Clay Galveston area Kayak meeting????
Tom/Clay-
Any way to have a big Galveston bay TKF kayak Day or weekend? I know with the kids I donot have the time to take a weekend off and go south. Everything seems to be in the AP area. I never did hear how many attended Bill's in May. Do you know how many attended? I was coaching at the State soccer tournament that weekend and missed.
I know that the CCCF, pack, and 2Cool boards have a monthly or periodic meeting.
Why not have a TKF one on a weekend or hopefully on a Sunday? I usually have to miss the Saturday local get togethers too. Too many kids and too much going on.
Maybe a get togetter at the SLP co park or over at one of the places. Some food and maybe a little tournament or so or beginners classes on ?? Might even get Cut rate to help since? Pot luck? I would like to see a campground for those who might be able to make a weekend.
What do you think?

Great Idea
That's a great idea. I know that some of us rookies who haven't just jumped in and a kayak from fear of finding out that we've made the wrong decision would benefit from this. I would also like to be able to get some "personal" insight from several people as to where and when they like to head out to fish. I've paddled the yaks that I think I want but seem to hold out to see the T140, maybe I should stop waiting and just dive right in.
It might also be a good selling point for FTU or Slowride if they were to bring some yaks and gear down, only makes since that we would see something on someone elses setup that we couldn't live without. Besides, if they had something for the rooks to try we might get the itch so bad that we couldn't do without it.

Since BigMike has closed his TexasCity store- where the last Houston area TKF meeting was held- Ruben, at FishingTackleUnlimited ask me the other day if there would be any interest in having a TKF meeting in the new store at Fuqua/Beltway8South@GulfFwy. I told him that would be a good idea. He asked Danny Meyer, one of the owners, and it's a go. This would probably be an evening meeting during the week like PACK holds.
All we need to do is to set a date that most everyone can agree upon.

South Houston Chapter of TKF
I've also talked to Ruben and I think we have the makings of a South Houston/Galveston chapter of TKF. There are plenty of active yakers over there and FTU has an excellent facility they've offered for meetings/demo's. I really think this chapter could rival the activity of the Aransas Pass group. I live in the Beaumont area and TKFClay lives in the Spring area but we would try to support you guys any way we can. You can even have your own message board. Just set a time and date and its a go! I'm sure the NASA/Kemah/Seabrook boys would be interested, if they don't form their own.
Tom- What about a weekend get together on the beach too??
What do you think a monthly meeting with a good speaker?

JIM D WHAT DO YOU THINK?
I think you need to be nicer to your wife. So you can get a kitchen pass.
Houston/Galveston Area
There are enough in the Houston/Galveston area for it. I am interested.

Sounds good to me
Would be nice to meet some of y'all. I enjoy fishing by myself, but it's fun with others as well.

I'm ready for the first meeting @ FTU. All we need is the date. Let's plan something for July. If guys want, we'll start a membership list. Just call the store so we can get name and numbers (281-481-6838). I'm so stoked about starting this.
