Enjoyed more than you can imagine. We lived in Corpus during the seventies, and fishing during the non hunting times was a major pass time.

I had one of the few (compared to today) four wheel suburbans, and we spent many a weekend at big shell on PINS. Hard to imagine now, but there were week-ends when we never saw another vehicle pass our camp site. My front bumper was set up to carry eight specialised surf rods, and we pulled a pop up camper when overnighting. 'Them was the days', as we say in South Texas.

It was not unusual to come home with ice chests full of specs, blue fish, pompano and Spanish macks (there were no size or number limits). We often ate the whitings we caught at campsite, as they don't freeze very well. Bull reds were usually prolific right before a blue norther rolled in. Great and exciting to fish for and catch, but, try as we might, we found no way to make them palatable table fair.
