Post by Yak Dog »

A buddy of mine and I hit Matagorda this past Sat. , the bite was slow but when it turned on it really turned on . Caught my personal best slot red with an unbeatable 28' beast .

yes, that's a very nice red with big shoulders.
If you can get out on sunny winter afternoons, the reds can light up

Nice stringer. Dandydon (or, as well call him "The Captain") has caught many a red that size and they are always fun!

Shoffer, they call me "the captain" because I am a Coast Guard certified captain. I can navigate through fog, swing on a bow reach to port, or pass any captain's exam.
I can marry people, too, but don't recommend it. Yessir.

Nice catch! One of the most fun fish I think there is a top of the slot redfish. Almost invariably, it’s going to be a real dog fight, but not take all of the day and too much hard labor to settle the outcome.

I fished that same Saturday, different system, and it was already on when I got there, but I didn’t launch until early in the afternoon. I tend to skip fishing in the morning during winter, but that’s probably as much about me as the fish. One more cup of cappuccino puttering around the house in pajamas has more appeal than it might should have.

Thanks for the report!
