TPWD crew are saving all living species out of the bay side of Rollover Pass as the water flow is now closed off.
The crew will return the fish, ect. to the bay or surf, if warranted.

I’m eager to see how soon it will take for the “New normal” feeding patterns to show up. Maybe a year?

What are they going to do in the next hurricane when the water flows back over that dam and dumps more species in there to die...

I expect that they will fill it in with dirt/concrete.

Maybe now's the time to fish the Rollover surf in front of the new concrete wall!

My theory is the fish will be so confused by the closure they will swim all around that area in large circles. I bet some birds will be working. Crazier things have happened, men...

Saltykat, get your booty down here and let's catch some big Gulf trout! I'll get on the horn to Shoffer, Kickingback, Watson & Chicken. Let's GO GET SOME.Image

I was down there this weekend. Its getting filled in fast almost to flat land both sides. Has anyone noticed any changes to the nearby inshore waters, tidal movement, water clarity, etc?

It'll be VERY interesting to see how that area (Rollover Bay, Frozen Point, etc.) looks this summer. It might be an awesome redfish habitat. Then again, it might be an awesome bluegill habitat...

Time will tell.

I'll be hitting that area this spring, will make sure to post a report. I would imagine that deep canal off the ICW will still hold fish from time to time. The flats would also hold flounder at times, no?
